This Hampton Inn & Suites SLC/University-Foothill offers a comfortable stay near the University of Utah and has a convenient location for exploring the city. However, recent reviews highlight issues with inconsistent amenities, particularly internet outages and food quality, alongside staffing concerns. While some guests praise the friendly staff and spacious rooms, significant problems with room cleanliness and billing practices have been reported.
Internet was out the whole time. I had to take time off work for this event, so I planned to work during the day. Not possible. I lost money because thier internet was not functioning. Breakfast was OK. The sausage was dry and hard, eggs were chewy too. Not a lot of freshness to the hot items. The fruit was gone fast. Usually when I am in a hotel I see the breakfast server in and out almost constantly. I saw her once. The food looked haphazardly put out. Things went empty before refilling (forks). For the price, I would not stay again unless all amenities are up to standard. This doesnt even meet the standard. It goes far below.
$90 of tax and fees for a $175 room? Free Cancelations but ZERO refund. Uh... seriously? is this what the worlds come to? Why not charge $1 for the room and $300 in fees? then you can advertise $1 rooms! astonishingly dishonest. Will happily never stay in a Hampton Inn again. Shameful.
We were here in late March for a campus tour. Nice place, the rooms are enormous. The shower in room we were put into was broken, but we were moved to a new room within minutes. Also, check out the deck on the third floor. Despite being on a busy road, the views of SLC are nice.
To hotel when visiting my son at the U. Super close to the campus in a very safe neighborhood. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean and perfect and comfortable. The staff is always very helpful. Felix specifically has been very kind and helpful during both of my last 2 stays.
????? World-Class Customer Care & Communication I want to take a moment to recognize Raurk, the Front Office Manager, for truly exceptional service. From start to finish, he demonstrated what outstanding hospitality and customer care should look like. Raurk took the time to listen attentively, communicated clearly and respectfully, and ensured every detail was handled with care. His manners were impeccable — warm, polite, and professional — making the interaction feel genuinely welcoming rather than transactional. He explained options thoroughly, anticipated needs before I even had to ask, and made sure I felt completely taken care of as a guest. The upgrade he arranged was handled seamlessly, but what stood out even more was how he did it: calm, confident, and with sincere consideration for the customer experience. His communication style was clear, reassuring, and thoughtful, which immediately builds trust and comfort. It’s rare to encounter someone who combines professionalism, empathy, and excellent communication so effortlessly. Raurk sets a very high standard for customer service and is a clear asset to this property. Experiences like this are the reason guests return and recommend a place to others. Truly outstanding service — thank you for making my visit such a positive one. Raurk deserves a raise !
I requested a one room on the first floor because of my mother and we stayed there about a week prior. We liked that room. Plus they had a comfortable chair she can sleep in because she can’t sleep in a bed. I checked in and they put us on the second floor. I told them she was handicapped. I’m very disappointed with them. She doesn’t need this right now and with my dad in the hospital. They should’ve told me We have one on the first floor especially after I confirmed it several times.
It cost me double of what I was quoted over the phone when I booked the room and I had a late check in. The electronic key locked me out of the room the entire 3 days I was there. I had to get new keys over 10 times. I'm not sure where the disconnect with price was but not impressed. The room was ok but not for the price. Staff was good and breakfast was good. Location for our schedule was nice.
Room was large and spacious. Couch bed looked brand new. Very quiet. The room wasn't clean when we got there so, we weren't impressed. Breakfast was typical hampton breakfast. Location was good. What interaction we had with front desk was always pleasant and helpful. Would have been 5 stars had the room been cleaned.
It was okay but not for price. Hotel staff were nice. Breakfast was not good, room was clean but shower wouldn’t turn off all the way. It was close to zoo so it was okay but it cost a pretty penny and I didn’t think the price matched what we received.
Had a friend stay at the hotel last week she was there to take her child to the children's hospital. Through all the stress and worry she ended up leaving her two engagement rings in the hotel room when she checked out. Now everybody knows when the person checks out of the room the only other people with access to the room are usually the cleaners that come in next or management. So how did two pretty expensive rings come up missing out of the hotel room when they were left on accident and the only people who have access to the room are hotel employees. Sad to see this happen I hope management does everything in their power to help her get her belongings back. And the gentleman she called who gave her attitude on the phone might just know who took what no other reason to act that way to a guest. A police report has been filed but like the owner of the rings said she just wants them back no reprecussions and no bad publicity for the hotel. Unfortunately that don't seem to be the situation ATM. Update: They found her rings great job management!!! Retiring fauthin humanity one step at a time.
