The Holiday Inn Express & Suites SLC/Murray receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location and helpful staff, while others highlight significant issues like outdated rooms, inconsistent service, and operational problems. Recent reviews consistently mention issues with room readiness, cleanliness concerns, and staff responsiveness.
The staff was great. Accomodating. Very good breakfast. Tv choices were kind of lacking. Furniture and room was outdated but they had a fridge, Keurig, microwave. Plenty of good hot water. It was an extremely convenient location to Intermountain Hospital which was my purpose for staying. Discount was applied at the Front Desk because I was going to the hospital on just my word.
No black out curtains. Could wake you up when the sun is up. Easy hear rooms next door and steps from upstairs. AC is loud like airplane engine. Good thing has microwave in room. Big size refrigerator.
1 star This was one of the worst Holiday Inn Express experiences I’ve had. When we arrived around 4:00 PM, a full hour after the listed check-in time, the lobby was full of guests waiting for their rooms to be ready. After we got checked in we went to our room, which had the door held open by the security latch for some reason? The bigger issue came afterward the next day: my bill had multiple “Suite Shop” charges on it that I absolutely did not make or authorize. These were not one or two small mistakes. There were repeated charges added to my room, for purchases I never made. That points to a serious administrative problem at this location. Either their internal controls are sloppy, their staff is not properly verifying room charges, or management is failing to run a basic hotel operation competently. Whatever the cause, guests should not have to audit their bill like they are investigating a tiny financial crime scene. The breakfast was also noticeably low offering quality compared to other Holiday Inn Express locations of the same caliber. However, the breakfast staff WAS polite and helpful. Nothing about the stay felt well-managed, polished, or up to brand expectations. Between the rooms not being ready an hour after check-in, the poor breakfast, and unauthorized shop charges appearing on my bill, something is clearly wrong with how this location is being managed. I would not stay here again, and I would strongly recommend checking your bill line by line if you do.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. The room was tidy and well-prepared when I arrived. Everything worked properly, and I didn’t run into any issues. The staff was polite and made the check-in process smooth. The hotel felt clean and organized, and the location made it easy to get around.
The lobby welcomes guests with a sense of cleanliness and quiet composure that establishes reassurance from the outset, reinforced by staff who conduct check-in with genuine warmth and polished efficiency in equal measure. The rooms maintain a reliable standard of comfort and a pleasing degree of quiet, reflecting attentive upkeep and creating the conditions for a full and restorative night’s sleep. Taken together, the property offers solid value for money, leaving guests with every reason to recommend it confidently and to regard a return stay as an especially appealing prospect.
This hotel was excellent! The young lady who checked us in was very helpful and knd. The only problem we encounter was there was no hairdryer in the room. The girl was working alone at the desk and could not assist me causing me to go out with a wet head...but that was all
The only thing good about this location is that there close to the hospital my son had a tragic accident and the last thing you want is to come and check in and not be greeted by the staff and to later find out she's the supervisor for the front desk and I believe her name was Hana. And then to deal with the same situation when checking out only this time the staff was in the back I had to shout out to let her know we where there checking out and I didn't catch her name but it started with a N and I did tell her I was going to contact her supervisor and then come to find out the women I encountered when checking in was her supervised shoking. We've been loyal customers for 5 years the only good incounter we had during our stay was from the breakfast attendant I believe her name was Ashley she was constantly bringing out fresh food. She would also inform us when she brought out fresh food. Along with constantly wiping the tables which is a big plus, welcoming everyone with a smile which is nice to wake up to at 6am.
We booked a room through our IHG account. We got in later in the evening and were tired from driving and hungry. When we got to our room there wasn’t bedding for the pull out couch. My son went down to the desk to ask for bedding and the lady told him there wasn’t any and gave him a sheet. He came back upstairs and relayed the information so I weren’t down the desk to talk to the lady. She informed me that the bedding was dirty and there wasn’t any she could do. I asked her what we were supposed to do and she said that it wasn’t her problem and there was nothing she could do. I told her I wanted a refund and we’d go stay somewhere else. She yelled at me and told me she didn’t like my tone and continued to yell at me while walking back to the office. She called her manager and then came out and called Michael to figure out how to do a refund. She never offered us another room or to go look for some in an empty room because I know they weren’t booked that evening. NOTHING!!! We quickly rebooked and went to the Layton Holiday Inn and they took great care of us. Don’t book at this location. Service is awful!
I booked this hotel through the IHG website. I was a platinum member (but have since cancelled my membership). Less than 24 hours later, a medical emergency came up for a family member, and I tried to cancel. I was only postponing my trip and would've stayed there an entire week had they allowed me to move my reservation, but they wouldn't (this is where I used to stay whenever I visited Utah). I will never make the mistake of staying with this chain of hotels again. Moving on to Hilton to see if they treat their loyal customers better.
I can’t believe how rude the employee Hana was. I got there at 11 pm, we were moving and I had an early shift so my husband got me a hotel room. We thought it was prepaid so I wasn’t too worried about checking in without him, as I’ve done it before. However, Hana was rude right off the bat and argumentative with me. I said “oh, I thought it was prepaid, and I’ve done it before,” to which she said “no.” And that’s it. So she refused to check me in or help me troubleshoot. I said I could call my husband and have him talk to her and verify it was his card because I did bring his card, and she said no that would be fraud. So I called my husband on the phone to tell him what was going on so he could send me the money and I could just use my card and then I could hear her talking to another girl that she was training I guess, and complaining about another customer who was in a similar situation as me. She was so unfriendly and rude and I hope she’s not the manager, because that was so unprofessional on her part and one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at this hotel. And it’s not proper etiquette to be complaining about another customer while you have a customer listening.
