The Hampton Inn West Valley Salt Lake City consistently receives positive feedback regarding its cleanliness, convenient location, and friendly staff, particularly highlighting the helpfulness of Lily. However, recent reviews indicate recurring issues with room noise, inconsistent breakfast quality, and issues with reservation systems, as well as outdated equipment and inadequate accessibility features.
Very nice and updated hotel. Beds were comfy, front desk staff was friendly, AC blew amazingly cold air all night and it’s in a great location. My only complaint would be that the luggage carts are so tiny that they basically only fit one bag. Please get real sized carts.
I opted for this hotel based upon the previous reviews. However I didnt experience anywhere near the service or stay quality previously mentioned. In fact this hotel has some major issues in my view. First of all the faucet in the bathroom is loose and coming apart from the sink. The day clerk at the front desk both days was sitting on a stool against the back wall and doesn't recognize or speak with passerbys, because she is busy scrolling on her phone. The breakfast is terribly maintained and the bananas this morning were rotted and black. The chocolate chips for the waffles were melted in the container and unusable. There is dirt and filth on the back wall behind the wafflemaker that needs cleaned dont know how they could pass a health inspection. The worst part however is there was a person sleeping in the breakfast room sprawled out in the seating area with croc shoes removed sound asleep. It didnt appear he was a hotel guest. Security alert for me..carpets in the halls on my level 4 are filthy and stained.the elevator floor and main hall floor has had spilled drink spilled stains for both days of my stay. To summarize there are much better choices in Salt Lake City.
We booked a room at this Hampton hotel through Hilton.com. When we arrived and checked in at the front desk, we were told that the hotel could not locate our reservation. What surprised us even more was that the receptionist clearly said, "It's not my problem." We were very confused. If it's not your problem, then whose problem is it? Perhaps the receptionist meant that the issue was with the online booking system and therefore outside of their responsibility. To some extent, I understand that. However, from a customer's perspective, we don't know which part of Hilton's system is causing the issue. We simply made a reservation through Hilton.com and expected the hotel to be able to find it. Meanwhile, several guests were waiting behind us to check in, and the receptionist seemed to be losing patience. It felt as though we were the ones wasting their time. But honestly, Hampton, don't you think it was our time that was being wasted? After spending a considerable amount of time trying to resolve the issue, we eventually had no choice but to pull out our credit card and pay for another night on the spot. The next day, I contacted Hilton.com, and they acknowledged that there had been an issue with the booking system. My impression is that Hilton.com's reservation system was not properly communicating with the Hampton hotel's reservation system. As a result, if you're using Hilton Honors points to book a Hampton hotel for the first time, I would strongly recommend calling the hotel directly before your arrival to confirm that they can see your reservation in their system. It may save you a lot of confusion and frustration at check-in.
Lily saved our wedding trip. We were traveling 800 miles as a family to my son's wedding in May. Two days before our arrival, the neighboring hotel cancelled my reservations I had made with them in February (two rooms for 4 days) and "walked" us to the Hampton. Not understanding a "walk", I was in a total panic. Lily at the front desk reassured me all would be fine, put up with my 6 million phone calls, and made sure we had 2 of the quietest rooms (Toddlers are light sleepers!). The day of the wedding dawned, and rain came down in droves (yup, outside wedding). She and Mel mustered up prayers and positive thoughts, and by noon the sun was out and the wedding weather was spectacular. Their personal touch and care will never be forgotten by this family. Now, my husband and I had stayed there several times before. The only reason we booked at the neighboring hotel was because I needed a full kitchen for wedding food I was transporting from New Mexico. The Hampton is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are clean, quiet, large and everyone there is amazing. The cleaning crew has some of the most polite people! The breakfast is FANTASTIC and being there for four days gave us an opportunity to sample many different breakfasts. I highly recommend this hotel.
The West Valley is a great location for a stay in Salt Lake City. Rt 201 provides quick and easy highway access to downtown SLC as well as points north and south as well as I-80 east bound. Very competitively priced room rates and clean and comfortable accommodations make this the best SLC Hampton Inn or Hilton property for anyone paying their own bills. The traditional Hampton Inn breakfast was enjoyable for each day of my stay. I have stayed at this Hampton Inn on about six different visits. There is another area Hampton Inn closer to the airport but the difference in travel time is negligible. I was door to door to drop my rental car in 13 min for a morning departure. The gym, pool and hot tub were all in excellent working order and clean. I will stay here on my next SLC visit as well.
We love staying at the Hampton Inn for our family staycations! Rooms and pool were clean and the kids look forward to making their own waffles in the morning! Fun place for a little getaway.
The only reason im not giving 5 stars is because of the people in the room above us. For two hours while my wife and I tried to sleep, these people let their kids run up the walls. Back and forth across the room, stomping, run in up and down the hallways, and knocking on doors and running away. The staff was very accommodating, offered to change our room and spoke to the offending party multiple times, to which they were told, "I'll try." Control your children.
I don’t really do reviews but I felt like this couldn’t go unnoticed. Ever have those days when it feels like everything is just not in your favor and everything wants to go wrong! That was me today. I had just had a bad phone call and walked in hoping for something bad but it was the opposite. The joy and friendliness of this girl in the front desk, her name was Lily, it really made my day. I felt like someone actually cared and genuinely meant every word that was spoken. It’s weird to say but I felt human for once, a complete stranger showing care and love for someone she doesn’t know. We didn’t have much to talk about but her demeanor and smile is enough to change a persons day. This is what great service is all about and everyone in the front desk should be like this. I’ve been here before but this is the first time I meet her, uf this girl is unnoticed I just want you all reading this to know that she is awesome. I definitely will be coming back to this hotel more. I’m not gonna sit here and complain about any petty stuff, we’re all just trying to get on about our days. Thank you Hampton, you’ve done well hiring her and for anyone else that’s looking for a place to stay, definitely choose here.
This is a very nice Hampton Inn located in a great area with shopping, restaurants, a Target within walking distance a Black Bear Diner etc.. check-in went really well front desk clerk very cordial. The room I stayed in was very clean, the bed was comfortable the sheets the linen in general were very clean, plenty of Wi-Fi Outlets etc.. my only complaint would be the breakfast it was average if not below, watery runny oatmeal, turkey sausage not my preference, my biggest complaint was the omelets. They were cheese, green and red chili's, not everyone likes green and red chili's in their omelets. Why not make half and half? All cheese omelettes and the other half green and red chili's,that's how you fix that. I'm sure the majority of children are not going to eat omelets with red and green chilies in them.
Excellent stay, hotel was extremely clean, staff friendly and unobtrusive. Rooms were quiet. Breakfast had a good selection, appreciated the sign to ask if we needed dietary accommodations.
