This family-friendly hotel offers a unique indoor water park, spacious rooms, and a popular breakfast bar, though guests frequently report inconsistent amenity availability and cleanliness issues in some areas. Recent reviews highlight specific heated pool accessibility problems and safety concerns in the water park.
This is the worst Holiday Inn I’ve ever stayed in, no question. The room had a strong musty/moldy smell, the mini fridge was leaking water all over the tile entryway, the filthy peel-and-stick carpet tiles were pulling up. The entire room/bathroom was dingy and disgusting. And my god the mold smell! I could have booked a nicer airbnb for $100 cheaper, but we thought the kids would enjoy the Grins and Fins pool area. The water was freezing. It’s described as a “splash pad,” but the shallow end is a foot deep and too much for a 2 year old. There are no age/size rules for the various pool areas so there were big kids knocking the littles over. So we paid extra money for an amenity that we couldn’t even enjoy. I complained to the front desk both nights about how dirty our room was (housekeeping never came to do a stay-over clean even after specifically requesting the floors be cleaned) and all they did was give me rewards points. So if I wasn’t a member could I have received a partial refund? Doesn’t seem worth it to book as a member. We’ve recently stayed in Denver CO and Cheyenne WY and didn’t have any of these issues, so it’s not a Holiday Inn problem it’s this specific hotel is nasty. Beware.
We live locally (about 40 minutes away). My son had a day off school so we decided to go on a staycation. We have seen the hotel with a waterslide from the freeway for years and were interested in staying here. Overall we had a good time. Pros: the staff was very friendly and professional. The breakfast was tasty and had a great variety of choices. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The pool was the highlight. It was quite large and lots of fun for the kids. Cons: the insulation is poor. We could hear every step from above and our neighbors TV. The big waterslide (the reason we booked this hotel) is only open on the weekends. Since we were there on a weekday, so we didn’t get to use it. But, overall we had a nice stay.
When you reserve a room online, it shows the pool is open every day, most of the day. When you check in, there is a sign stating the slide is only open Friday-Sunday, and the pool doesn't open until 4PM. I checked in on a Thursday and specifically asked if the slide would be open. Front deck staff assured me it would be open, again on a Thursday. Long story short, when the pool opened at 4PM the same staff told me they still weren't sure if the slide would open. It never did. We had the place to ourselves, so that was nice. Second time staying at this place for the slide, without my kids being able to use the slide. The place does have a good breakfast!
It's ok at best. We had flying ants all over our room, mostly in the bathroom. Kids are everywhere and the walls are thin enough to hear both the kids and dogs. It's also tucked back behind an event center and is kinda hard to find/ get to, not to mention being in a dirty area. The security door on the east end doesn't work and random people just kinda wander in and mosey around. The dirt and tarps are a dead giveaway that they aren't staying at the hotel. The doors don't seal either and have gaps all the way around so you can hear everything going on in the hallways. The pool is cool and has a big water slide, but that's probably the highlight of the whole place.
Highly recommended this Hotel unfortunately I didn't took pictures like I used too but I can say that the room the bed was squiky clean and so the bathroom we took our 5 month old puppy and the room was so spacious that we could place his crate anywhere. We got a downstairs room and they have high ceilings. Also the complementary breakfast WAOO it was top of the line it was a completed breakfast and the personal super nice ans friendly.
We booked a room here specifically for the pool and the waterslide. If you have kids, they must be 48 inches tall to ride the waterslide. They have an attendant actively checking rider height. Other reviews made it sound like no one was really checking the kid's height but that wasn't the case for our stay. I felt bad because my son is just shy of the height requirement so he was bummed he couldn't do the waterslide. The pool area for kids is great though although if there are bigger kids, I'd highly suggest watching your littles so they don't get run over by older kids. Hot tub was nice as well and allowed my husband and I to sit and soak while we had a view of the kids play area and smaller slide. Breakfast was good with plenty of options for picky eaters. Staff was friendly from checking in to check out. Room was clean, shower was decent, and overall I'd stay here again.
We were on a short visit to Salt Lake City and had booked this hotel for 2 nights. I am highly impressed with this hotel. The room was very clean with comfortable bedding. There was no odour. The front desk staff were welcoming. There was a complimentary breakfast but had limited options. They could improve a bit on their breakfast menu. The morning Coffee wasn’t that great and was not hot. People expect to have a good cup of Coffee in the morning. They have plenty of free parking lot. You feel safe and secured while staying in this Hotel. We did not use the pool though. But I could see many families with kids were having fun time. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you’re in Salt Lake City.
We got 2 rooms and both are spacious.the couch pulls out to a bed . Breakfast was great with a good variety of food to choose from. Location is perfect to the track and rice-eccles stadium..... Only complaint is the water park here is closed during prime hour....
A lot of things were in disrepair in the room like loose faucet handles, loose soap dispenser holder, and loose dead bold lock. Maids have to notice these things so why weren't they maintained? Breakfast was pretty good though, maybe the best hotel breakfast I've had.
Kylie, at the front desk, checked us in nights of march 26-29th. Hotel was fully booked and she helped us grab the cancellations each day. They let us come back each day at noon, which is a big deal and so appreciated. They didnt have to do that. Kylie went above and beyond. The inside splash park, with a big space of shallow water, and the deeper section of the pool with the amazing water slide is such a good set up. Usually I feel stressed trying to keep kids contained and safe. The lay out was nice in that I didnt have to stress as much. The water was very clean and the POOL IS HEATED. That information is rarely shown and most pools are just room temp. Big deal to me. Pool hours and slide hours confused me at first. Pool opened in the morning, but the slide opens at 4pm. I originally thought the slide hours were the pool's hours. Rooms and motel were very clean, breakfast was delicious, just a great experience.
