The My Place Hotel Salt Lake City offers a convenient location near the I-215 and West Valley City, with a newer design and amenities like a kitchenette. However, recent reviews highlight significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staff responsiveness, and potential safety issues, including a disturbing incident involving false identification and a subsequent refund dispute.

Nice and safe and clean. Great value. However it is a bit of a “hands off” hotel, for instance the only breakfast option is from a prepaid room service type option and at times it feels like only one person is running the hotel. I recently left two items in the room— house keeping did not find them, whatever. I would still recommend and stay here again.

DONT TRUST THIS PLACE My Place Hotel (West Valley City) Lured Me Into a Police Ambush and Left My Child Alone To the Management of My Place Hotels and Every Traveler in Utah: I am writing this to warn every parent, traveler, and guest about the dangerous and negligent actions of the My Place Hotel in West Valley City (3074 S Decker Lake Dr). On the morning of March 27, 2026, I experienced every parent's worst nightmare. After staying at this hotel for a full week, the front desk clerk—Ismael, the same man who personally checked me in and verified my ID days prior—called my room at 7:50 AM. He lied to me, claiming there was "missing paperwork," and lured me down to the lobby. What happened next was a total breach of safety and humanity: The Ambush & False Identification: As soon as I stepped into the lobby, I was surrounded by police and put in handcuffs. The clerk, Ismael, later told my husband that the police approached him with my name, a photo of me, and my room number. This was a lie. My last name is "one in a zillion," and had my ID in computer. NO EXCUSES After the police went "round and round" verifying my actual ID, they realized they had been given false information. The hotel staff falsely identified me as a wanted person despite having my real ID on file for seven days. Child Endangerment: By tricking me into coming down the hall under a lie, the hotel staff knowingly caused me to leave my minor child alone and asleep in the room while I was being wrongfully detained in the lobby. I had to explain to my daughter that I wasnt going to jail that no one took the steps to assure they were correct in their unsumptions.but clearly knew who I was so no reason to be harrassed out of a dead sleep to be handcuff an stressed over who was going to be with my child. Retaliatory Eviction: When I tried to extend my stay two hours after the police released me, at 10:30 am 30 mins before check out the hotel suddenly claimed they were "sold out". . The management has refused to take responsibility or offer a refund. They chose to "dispose" of a guest they wronged rather than apologize for the trauma they caused. I am sharing this so no other mother is lured away from her child by staff they are supposed to trust. I have filed a police report, initiated a legal claim for gross negligence and defamation, and notified corporate. DO NOT STAY HERE. #MyPlaceHotels #WestValleyCity #UtahTravel #HotelSafety #Warning #ParentAlert #TravelStaySafe

It won’t let me share the full details of my awful experience here so far, but long story short our microwave almost caught on fire and we had to fix the issue by being the microwave to the front desk and put in a microwave from another room ourselves because they didn’t know how to. Later we lose complete power to our room, staff come and flips the fuse back and says if it happens again “we can just open the panel ourselves and fix it”. Ma’am?? I as a guest, should NEVER have to touch the fuse panel or swap out an appliance. Ever. She then gives me attitude because I’m upset we’re having electrical issues in our room, and am demanding compensation. Apparently can’t give us a new room or discount either. Staff needs significant more training on how to handle issues. I’ll gladly update this on how the manager handles this in the morning. (This is our first and current night)

Came in here expecting it to have a truck parking available as google maps showed. Unfortunately that is not the case!!. Google satellite is not updated and there are multiple new buildings around this place that makes it extremely difficult for truck drivers to get in and out. If you are a truck driver avoid this place unless it’s an emergency. There’s a smaller parking space on the side but it’s though to back in there and the street has a light pole right where you turn into parking lot. Other than that service seems pretty good.

I stayed at this hotel on October 9th. I checked in late at night and noticed bed bugs in the room, but since I was exhausted, I didn’t contact the receptionist right away and decided to adjust for the night. The next morning, I informed the receptionist about the issue. He mentioned that he would discuss it with the manager and that I would receive a call. However, I never got any follow-up. Unfortunately, I also developed rashes on my skin that same day.

The hotel itself is nice, but their refusal to give more towels to accommodate us is frustrating. Should’ve just brought our own. Maintenance left and so did housekeeping, they didn’t clean our room, and also refused to give us more towels. Toilet clogged and is disgusting and they have one person here to run the whole hotel, no maintenance, no housekeeping. Just reception. I’d give a better review if it wasn’t for this. Guess I’ll be holding it in until housekeeping actually comes and cleans our room hopefully tomorrow or I guess I’ll be finding a bathroom elsewhere outside of my hotel.

A very impressive experience. Great design, very clean, super comfortable. Weird though, a full size refrigerator, toaster, two burner stove, etc. but zero dishes, utensils, etc. BYO pan to make eggs?

Just stayed here as a solo female and felt super safe! Room was clean and I loved that it had a mini kitchen since my stay was a little longer! Very convenient spot too and the staff were kind and helpful! Would stay again ??

The room smelled so bad that I had to go buy a room freshener spray to be able to deal with the smell during my stay. I asked for my room to be cleaned day 2 and day 4 of my stay and they did not clean it. The front desk person was rude, when I asked her if it works for sure be cleaned the next day, she said she couldn’t tell me for sure. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stay in. The pictures are not accurate! Do not book this hotel!

The hotel is generally good and clean, but the lack of breakfast was a big downside. There is a small corner shop inside where you can buy instant noodles, some snacks, and bottled water, but it’s really not enough — especially considering how far the hotel is from any nearby shops or cafés. It would make a big difference if the hotel offered even a simple breakfast — something like toast and eggs — so guests wouldn’t have to go far just to find food. That was definitely something we missed during our stay.
