The Holiday Inn Express Sandy-South Salt Lake City is generally appreciated for its cleanliness and friendly staff, particularly highlighted by helpful front desk employees. However, recent reviews reveal ongoing construction, inconsistent breakfast quality, and occasional maintenance issues such as plumbing problems and insect infestations. Overall, it’s a decent value option but requires some attention.
The rooms are 4 star, they need a little maintenance attention, but clean. The staff is great and friendly! The breakfast in my opinion is great! Pool and hot tub are just nice enough to take a plunge. Restaurants and a mall are all within walking distance and right off the interstate.
Over the past 3 decades of my life, I’ve frequented only Holiday Inn Express & suites. The staff at this location was probably the most genuine, kind, helpful and polite human beings I have met at a Holiday Inn thus far. The man at the front desk, Harsha, when I first arrived, and the Manager, Ms Prava were incredibly professional and so polite and helpful in providing me with a list of all nearby restaurants, directions to the mountains and help with setting up same room for extending my stay. In a dark and hurting world, It’s people like them, who make the world a better place, even for a short while ??? Theresa from Michigan
Holiday Inn express has been our motel of choice for many many years, and will continue to be. They have made the best of this older hotel building. The hallways remind us of a dormitory. Our room’s entrance door only opened 2/3’s of the way because the desk was in the way. The plumbing water noise of the room next door was significant. The room was clean. No hot chocolate packets in the breakfast area. The staff was pleasant and professional. Our stay was May 19-22, 2026.
Checked in on the 11th. AC in room was set to 64. Very cold in the room.On the morning of the 12th I had two red, itching welts on my arm. A the day progressed, the welts grew in size and intensity of pain.On the morning of the 13th I had 6-8 new welts. I tried to look at the seam of the mattress for bed bugs but IHG had mattresses with grey tweed style fabric around the sides. HMMM. Inspected welts, welts from previous day much larger and weeping. I hoped at this point that a spider bit me.On the morning of the 14th I had a total of 22 bites, red, raised welts with a tiny hole in the center. As they swole and stretched the skin, some began to weep, some bled. All were very. very itchy. I told the front desk agent but considering it was the same incredibly rude FDA from check in I don't expect she cared or noted it. But she was visibly disgusted by me showing her the sores and welts left by her property. I bet the hotel knows and is not remediating until forced. Why waste money keeping the room so cold? Because it's less money than fixing the infestation..... I now have 28 bites and counting. I had to throw away my suitcase, my laundry basket and several soft furnishings that could not hold up to remediation. I have spent 6 hours of my time so far just cleaning. Unless the owner is going to refund the stay, don't bother with the platitudes. Just clean up that nasty property before the infestation makes someone sick.
I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well?maintained, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. Breakfast was fresh and well?stocked, and the location made it easy to get around the area. A few small improvements could make the experience even better, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. I’d happily return.
I had an awesome stay at this Holiday Inn! The breakfast was really nice with a good variety of fresh and tasty options every morning. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxing stay. Overall, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at an IHG hotel. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
Had a very pleasant experience here. Rooms were spotless, comfortable, and quiet. Service was smooth from check-in to check-out, and the staff were courteous and helpful. The location is ideal, with easy access to nearby areas. Everything was well organized and exceeded expectations.
Enjoyed my stay this weekend. Hotel is in a good location and it is very convenient to walk to or short drive to restaurants or shopping for necessities. My room was either under another fitness room or some very inconsiderate other guests but the noises are very audible from above and from the hallway. I am unbothered by this in general but if you are, I would take this into consideration. Breakfast was good. The area is a bit small and chaotic to navigate when there are other guests coming in and out. Staff is friendly and eager to accommodate you.
Very loud noises from the plumbing - like when someone else took a shower our room was filled with a loud groaning. The sink faucet fell off, the dresser was at an angle and drawers kept opening on their own. The coat hook fell off the wall and the shower diverter wasn’t working - pulled out completely! Grout in the entry and bathroom in pretty bad shape. Refrigerator was off and the door didn’t close completely - it had a sizable gap at the top. Breakfast - pretty depressing. I wouldn’t expect a lot at this price point but it was pretty sad.
The staff here was so very kind and ready to respond quickly when we had a need. They are clearly trying to update the facility, and in the process of work, some areas of maintenance could use some attention, but overall we were fine with our room. Breakfast was generally disappointing. Breakfast meats were so overcooked they were inedible, and the juice dispenser cooling system was not working so it was literally hot juice all 5 days we were there. The breakfast attendant didn't speak much English, and when trying to let her know about hot juice she just said, "sorry," and when we asked if she had ice to help cool it down she told us to go find an ice machine. We typically choose Holiday Inn Express because the breakfast is typically something we can count on, but was not up to parr here.
