Guests praise the modern, spacious, and clean rooms with excellent showers and the prime downtown location near the Salt Palace and Convention Center. However, reviews highlight significant inconsistencies in service delivery, including instances of rude or unresponsive staff, security breaches, and complications with booking and breakfast.
Love this hotel & this location. Marriott property. Hydration stations on most floors have nugget ice & such a convenient & clean way to stay hydrated. Bathrooms have great showers (not bathtub) and rooms have layered, comfy lighting. Hotel bar as limited, fixed menu but seems busy and there are good restaurants just a 2-4 minute walk away. They do charge for parking but there's a garage for covered parking (hello Utah snow!) right across the Plaza out front (not connected to hotel) but so close it's not noticeable. Stated here multiple times & will stay again!
Beautiful modern rooms with an amazing view of the city. This is also in an amazing location. The showers are beautiful and the whole place is just perfect. The area is walkable and you can get to anywhere you want with a >$10 uber if needed. The staff were lovely and friendly. No crowds and genuinely nice place.
The room is really nice and was incredibly clean when I checked in! But my check in experience was the complete opposite of a "perfectly precise hotel." They checked me in without explaining any of the amenities or that I needed a coupon to claim my breakfast and were unresponsive on the phone and understaffed at 8am on a workday when lots of business travelers were checking out so I couldn't claim my coupon at the front desk. Overall, would not book again because nobody cares if you even arrive.
Would ld have given them a sixth star if possible. Great location in downtown across the convention center and walking distance to the temple and creek shopping center. The room was spacious and very clean. Nice big shower. I only wish there were more shelves to store our clothes. There's a coffee maker in the room and free coffee in the lobby . Breakfast is wonderful
This hotel feels new and up-to-date. The room is decent though not spacious. I wish they had a little bit more space to hang up clothes. The lobby area is lovely and offers a good place for informally meeting people. Front desk staff are super friendly and helpful. One annoying thing, however, is the parking is across the street in the parking garage of an apartment complex. There was always space available when I went, but it is kind of annoying to have to walk across especially if it's bad weather, and of course when you're loading and unloading bags at check in and check out. It's a great location for events at the Salt Palace, pretty much directly across the street.
I am going to lead with the exact reason I am giving 2 stars to this Marriott. If you want to drink at the hotel bar, you have to order a 5$ dish of peanuts that is probably valued at 10¢. Other restaurant/bars in the immediate vicinity struggle with the same Utah law, but offer a 1$ food item to meet the requirements. Forcing patrons to spend 5$ to order a drink is insulting. I’m happy to pay a premium to drink at a hotel bar, I’m not happy to have a 5$ dish of peanuts pitched to me as a favor. Fix this. The rest of the review: Generally I would say that this is the same great experience I have come to know expect from the Marriott. The rooms are sizable and modern. The biggest complaint is the thermostats which seem to be a relic of the late 1900s in the way they function. I’m incredibly happy to see that Marriott has expanded upon the streaming services you can log into for their TVs which has been a long running complaint I’ve had. I’m hopeful eventually all streaming services will be offered and I will comfortably be able to leave my Google chrome at home. Parking availability is poor and there is an additional charge for it. There isn’t much this location can do about it, though the charge easily docks a star. However, if you’re here for the convention center or have your bike… or want to leverage local public transit then this location is fantastic.
I had a really nice stay here initially. On my last morning, someone from housekeeping walked in on me naked. I spoke with someone at the front desk and they assured me I would be getting an email with points. Three weeks go by and I never received an email. I called and then they only promised me 10,000 points. That's not even enough to get one free night most places. I would expect more with the terrifying experience and then them not following through on their promise to make it right.
Clean and comfortable, but they denied me the included breakfast. ? We only had 1 voucher instead of two? Did they give us two? We were part of a tour, we had a room card and 1 voucher? It was buffet!!!! So I let hubby eat bc he's diabetic and I went hungry until the tour stopped for lunch. I bet they threw food away too! The chubby front desk guy said, no you must have a voucher. Maybe he wanted the scrambled eggs?
Our stay at this hotel was absolutely outstanding! The rooms were modern, spacious, and impeccably clean. The service was exceptional, with every staff member going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. A special thanks to Carlos, who took great care of us during breakfast—his attentiveness made our mornings even better. of breakfast, it was truly outstanding and highly recommended! On top of that, the location couldn’t be better. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!
The location is great and the lobby is very inviting. However, the room was less so. It was modern basic and not very cozy. And the bedside lights wouldn't work without all of the lights on, so no reading in bed. We also couldn't find a microwave...
