This renovated Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites provides a convenient, comfortable base near Salt Lake City Airport, particularly praised for its modern rooms and attentive, friendly staff. However, guests report significant inconsistency in housekeeping, housekeeping staffing shortages leading to empty amenities, and occasional maintenance issues like broken amenities. The on-site dining options are a positive find, though breakfast variety varies.
This is a fine hotel. We stayed for a night to caught an early flight out. Clean rooms, quick breakfast and away we went. There were some hiccups in the shuttle service but the front desk and management were so quick and efficient in making it right. They went far beyond what was expected. I have rarely received such service in this world filled with I Don’t Care. They were quick to act and so kind and understanding. This will be my first choice for a stay next time. Really enjoyed the short time here and such pleasantness by all!
Overall the room was decent and comfortable enough for our stay. It was very cheap to stay compared to nearby places for the room, but I can see why. The girl that checked me in was friendly, but despite being 30 minutes later than I told them I would arrive, my room was not ready so I had to stay in a different room because otherwise I would have to wait almost another hour. The pool was cold, small and only went to 5ft. The hot tub was okay, but the jets didn't really work well. Late at night around 1030 our room started to stink of smoke pretty badly. I thought it might be coming from the connected room and tried to notify the hotel staff through the app chat, but no one ever responded. I also realized our room was right above the pool outside patio area so someone may have been smoking, but I didn't see anyone when I looked. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a hotel employee that stepped outside to smoke right next to the building illegally. In the state of Utah you are not supposed to smoke within 25ft or something of a building entrance. The breakfast was about the worst I've ever had to top it all off. The only muffins they had were banana. No waffles, pancakes, or anything like that. My wife said there was no milk or serving spoons when she went. I had to wait at least 20 minutes for any eggs and the sausage they had was some cold. It didn't even look or seem like it was cooked at all. I had to ask them to refill the milk. When I tried to have a glass of milk, I had to throw it away because it tasted rotten. The orange juice was so watered down it just tasted like water. There were also no milk cartons, yogurt or much else. The basically had cereal, plain eggs, and sausage links. I've stayed at the Tru nearby and it seemed fine. In hindsight it would have probably been better to stay there.
Spark was a great surprise. It’s a thoughtful budget hotel. The breakfast offered fresh eggs and bacon along with cold options, the breakfast room had smooth jazz playing, nice break from the news. I liked that the room sink was separate from the shower/toilet, the beds are comfy and the room was quiet. Otherwise, free airport shuttle and check in were both wins.
Was not expecting much as we booked the cheapest Airport hotel we could find as we were arriving late and leaving early. Was surprised to find the rooms are spotless and beds very comfortable, shower had hot water good pressure. Had a decent coffee in the morning but skipped breakfast. Decent stay and i would use this hotel again .
We stayed here for from Dec 31 to Jan 5 and didn’t receive maid service until our last day. I was expecting maid service on the 3rd day as it says every other day on the bathroom mirror. Nope. I asked for an extra bath towel to hold us over and I was given a bath mat and assured we would get maid service the next day. Nope. I asked for another towel and was given a hand towel we also had to ask for toilet paper and body wash. I was brought body lotion. It’s a nice facility but very poorly ran on a daily basis.
Andrea and the manager (I forgot his name sadly)working the front desk made it super easy to check in to multiple rooms! First time booking and I can tell they go above and beyond for anyone staying at this hotel. Customer service was spot on, and I will definitely be back. 10/10 experience!
Nicely updated property conveniently near SLC International Airport. Staff was very friendly & very helpful! Shuttle service was appreciated & seamless. It was a dated Fairfield INN prior & this refreshed look is a very nice improvement. Nice Pool & patio area too. The attached restaurant was also very good, with a fast & friendly staff & a good selection of tasty food. A glass of wine?would be a nice addition to make available here for "tired travelers lodging at this New SPARK. Keep it up!
Overall nice new hotel with a reasonable price. However management needs to take care of the maintenance: heater was not working in room #211. Than we changed room and everything was ok, until new TV for some reason turned off after ~ 30 min and never turned back on. Plugging/unplugging didn’t help. The faucet handle of a nice new Kohler faucet in the bathroom is not screwed so it just drops in the bathtub when you turn it on. The hotel manager definitely needs to hire someone to take care of it, otherwise after a few years it’s going to be a Motel 6
I really have nothing negative to say. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pillows and beds were comfortable. The pool was nice and clean as well. The service provided by Regan and Amanda was great. The GM was there for my check out and he was kind and helpful as well. I will stay here again!
Clean comfortable and good value. I have been a Hilton member for years and almost always booked HGI. I took a chance in Spark a couple of months ago and was pleasantly surprised. Same bed as HGI. Newer rooms and in better condition. I think these are targeted at students but are just as comfortable as other Hilton properties... with one exception. They don't have an office chair. Other than that they are great and save a few dollars.
