The Hampton Inn Salt Lake City Central is currently undergoing a significant renovation, impacting guest experience and available amenities. Recent reviews highlight construction noise, safety concerns regarding the surrounding area, and inconsistent service due to staffing issues related to the remodel. While some guests appreciated the newly renovated rooms, the overall experience has been marred by disruptions and a lack of transparency.
I do not leave reviews unless I receive stellar, exceptional service or vice versa. You burn me so bad. It puts a bad taste in my mouth. And here I am leaving the worst review. I've ever left...in my life. If you value your safety and your vehicle safety and your belongings do not bother showing up to this hotel. I flew in from Oregon because I'm working out here in Salt Lake City. I work for a multimillion-dollar company. I have diamond platinum membership. I pay for high class parking. Because I'm driving a $75000 company truck with lots of equipment. Ipads, multiple things that can't risk being stolen. I show up to this hotel and I can't even hardly get in here with my truck. Because first of all it's blocked by this employee car!! That is parked in the loading unloading area. After I check-in, I drive around the parking lot. Dark is scariest parking lot. It borders a sketchy restaurant, tweaker haven all hours of the night. Next to a very popular road. No way I'm leaving my truck in this parking lot. I ask to have this car moved so I can park out front and feel safe and go to sleep for 4 and 5 hours before I go to work again, for 16+ in the morning. I'm informed that the employee is not here and the car cannot be moved. So, what do I do? How do I feel safe?I don't know...cuz I sure dont! Stuck between a rock and a hard place. I figured I would just help anyone else out, who's on the road facing the same challenges I am...yes I did crawl outta passenger seat ? can't take my smile! I am a Lighthouse in the storm
I was greeted by the receptionist Kay. She has been so kind and nice and very helpful. A very cheerful attitude Made me feel like I was at home. Good job Kay Hope to see you again soon Derick
Kaye at the front desk put quite the “ spark” in my stay. ;) Arun and Richard were very nice at check in also. I just learned spark is like a basic hilton brand so many of the amenities are not offered. Although there isn’t coffee in the rooms theres 24 hour coffee in the lobby and Richard assured me they would make coffee fresh for me at night for my 10pm cup before going to work. I travel for work and this is my second spark this week and the staff were great at both. Today every housekeeper made it a point to say hello which is very uncommon these days. The room I am in appears to have been renovated recently and is quite comfortable. The bed feels quite cozy too Thank yall so much Frank
Update: Hilton management was in contact and very kindly resolved the issue. They are currently training their onsite team to resolve issues without management needing to be present. I would stay here again -especially since it's right next to a golf course AND because it was very clean. I was in SLC for a cardiology conference and needed a place to stay afterward for one night. The lobby was clean, my room was clean, but when I tried to shower at 6 am after working out, there was no hot water. I didn't have time to wait for maintenance because I had to run to a meeting (with my hair up and gross). When I returned, the front desk informed me, "It's an old building; stuff goes wrong." When I asked to be compensated with points or to get a discount for the issue, the person was unable to help because the manager was in Las Vegas. I did complete the review that was emailed to me and marked that I wanted to speak to someone about the issue, but never received a call back or an email follow-up. As you can see, it is the end of March -there's been plenty of time for that to happen. If you decide to stay here, be sure you check for hot water before your workout. Also, the hot tub was broken -nothing I care about, but it put the guy checking in in front of me in a rage
I would advise ignoring previous reviews that people made during the renovations. They have since been completed and the hotel is now operating in a normal state. Facilities are clean and modern. Breakfast was nice, the standard fare at Spark. Rooms were comfortable and the bed was plush and I was able to get a great nights sleep. Highly recommend this hotel for an affordable stay in Salt Lake!
This place isn’t bad at all it is part of the Hilton chain. We stayed in room 312, facing the driving range. Nice curb appeal upon driving up. The front desk was very friendly checking in and it happened quickly. Be careful and stand by, the elevator has a good jolt comparable to a small theme park ride. Upon entering the room you noticed its clean and comfy looking. The room could use a nice and pleasant air freshener. I sprayed a shot of Dolche & Gabana light blue in the ac. Shower pressure works great, the only bad thing is the bathroom sliding door handle on the inside fell off for no reason. Poor maintenance work is what I’d say and chipped paint. The beds and pillows are beyond comfy. The coffee is rather good, it’s Folgers so it’s better than sewer coffee. All in all we would stay again when we come back through.
Lots of false advertising on this Google maps site. Hot tub is evidently permanently out of order. All I saw for breakfast was oatmeal when I stopped to look. The front desk clerk Neshia was not very pleasant. She was kind enough to get me a can of WD-40 for the barn door that screamed when you shut it, so that I could fix it and return the WD-40 to the front desk. I picked this hotel over dozens of other options just because there was a hot tub. I was told by Neshia, it states it is not available on their website. Actually is just does not list it, but google maps does. I personally was not familiar with the area, so like many people I looked on Google maps to find a place that offered the amenities and location I was looking for, I can not recall one time in my life that I have gone to a hotels Actual website, except after I was told to and had already paid. I spoke to the clerk in the morning, I wasn't able to get her name, but she said she would speak to the manager about some of the issues I encountered during my stay, never to hear another word. Overall, not very friendly staff, certainly not friendly, quite condescending. I will never spend my hard earned money at another Hilton.
Hotel was nice, the room was half decent. Within 2 minutes of arriving, there was a homeless going through the trashes right outside the main doors. But it took about 10 minutes to get hot water for the shower. We paid for a room with fridge and microwave, we only had a fridge. The hot tub was closed and not a single mention when we were booking. The breakfast was not a full hot breakfast either. It was all cold. Overall we will not be staying back here again.
If you expect to go to the hotel you see in the pictures that are provided then you will be very disappointed, they are not current pictures and do not have a breakfast with all that is pictured (waffle makers, warmers for eggs and sausage...etc) cereal, toast and bagels is all you can hope for. All the pictures are of when it was Hampton inn and it is nothing like it was. The pool is closed and they will argue with you about whether it says it is open or not. Even though it says closed from March 30th 2025 to December 31st 2025, they will argue with you anyway ( well the man that was at night will). They will tell you you have to run the water for 5-6 minutes before it gets warm and they are right, but if you want to take a shower then you must run it for at least 10 minutes. What a terrible waste of water in a state that constantly has issues with droughts. If you want to waste a ton of water and be deceived then this is the place for you. Our family's one night will be the only night we ever stay here. A refund because of their deceit may help if the water issue was corrected but that is something that would not happen so this will be our one and only time here.
This a spark hotel by Hilton. I expected more. The room was fine beds were great. But there was no ice bucket in my room. The continental breakfast was lacking. Bagels toast and cereal. That's not breakfast. They accept dogs so that's a plus as I travel with my dogs.
