The Courtyard Salt Lake City Downtown consistently receives positive feedback, particularly regarding its exceptional staff and convenient location near the Delta Center. While some guests appreciate the cleanliness and amenities, recurring concerns about room cleanliness, bathroom ventilation, and inconsistent breakfast quality have been raised. Newer reviews highlight staff exceptionalism and positive experiences, though older reviews point to more significant service and cleanliness issues.

We stayed here 1 night before embarking on Canyon Spirit.. the rooms were modern and the entire property was spotless. The bar "restaurant" server Rodrigo was great and offered awesome advice on what to order for a light dinner.

I would like to give Courtney, the front desk attendant kudos for my stay June 22-23, 2026. She greeted me and my guess upon arrival, thanked me for being a Marriott member and recommended restaurants that were walking distance from the facility. Just wanted to say thank you and I’ll be staying again in the future.

I’ll start with the pros. The staff was 5/5. If it wasn’t for them I probably would have switched hotels. The location was great. The hot tub was nice. Now for the cons. My room smelled so bad I had to sleep with the window open. It smelled musty or like pee or something. Then they moved me to another room which was better but when the AC wasn’t running I could still smell that weird smell. Every night I stayed there I tossed and turned and couldn’t sleep and usually I sleep like a baby at hotels. The walls were also very thin and you could hear everything so I had to sleep with ear plugs. The view choice they gave you was of construction/road or a parking garage. The food at the hotel is insanely expensive. One morning I got a fruit cup, bottle of water and an energy drink and it was $28. I wouldn’t stay here again but do want to highlight again how great the staff was.

I recently stayed at this location for several days. Really great service! The staff at this hotel were extremely helpful and courteous. Particular standouts were Alilia & Courney at the front desk, I'll definitely stay here again!

Not my favorite Marriott property I've ever stayed at. The rooms we're not as clean as I would expect. Not dirty, but not thoroughly cleaned either. The service was great and this isn't a great location, especially if you're visiting the Delta center.

The night of 03.12.26 I experienced the most disrespectful and unprofessional employee working the front desk. She was a very heavy set woman with dark hair and glasses. After the mammoth game I went into the entrance and asked if there was a restroom on the main level I could use bc I didn’t have time to go to my room (the uber was waiting) she pointed me around the corner, bathrooms smelled nice and were clean. As I was walking out I said thanks and this very rude employee says “you didn’t have to lie to me!” I looked at her very confused, she asked if I wanted to check in, I said no and walked out the doors (as our friends had already checked into our room for us before the game) This front desk employees rude assumption was not only rude and disrespectful but unbelievably unprofessional and left me shocked that Marriott would even employ such a disrespectful person. I’ve never experienced this in all my stays with Marriott. I hope to not encounter such a disrespectful employee again.

This is supposed to be a halfway decent hotel in downtown Salt Lake, stayed there last night for a Jazz game and it is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. No complimentary breakfast, which, outside of a seedy motel, I've never come across a hotel that doesn't offer SOMETHING. Only about 30 channels on the TV, the pillows were like mushy cardboard, no vent in the bathroom (what?), and to top it off nicely, the whole place smells like cheap musky perfume. You should stay literally anywhere else in Salt Lake, but not here.

After an extremely stressful situation caused by Hyatt House SLC/Downtown the Courtyard by Marriott completely saved our New Year’s Eve trip. We arrived to the Marriott unexpectedly after Hyatt mishandled our reservation and gave our room away, despite us calling in advance and being assured we would not be marked as a no-show. With little information passed along from Hyatt, the situation could have been a nightmare. But the Marriott staff handled it with professionalism, patience, and care. Although it initially looked like we might be charged again because of Hyatt’s mistake, Courtney at the front desk went above and beyond to understand what happened, and make sure we were taken care of. She was calm, compassionate, and truly turned a terrible experience into a positive one. The Marriott team made us feel safe, welcomed, and supported during a very stressful moment. Thanks to them, our trip was saved. If you want a hotel that genuinely cares and steps up when others fail, stay at the Marriott.

Rooms are good. Service is normal. Main issue is the breakfast. Absolutely terrible, nothing for kids. No cereal. No juice... It will be impossible to feed kids. This adds huge complexity for the trip. You will need to eat outside or buy your own meal. I would not recommend this hotel for families with kids. Not worth the morning hassle. NOT KIDS FRIENDLY!

I am giving it an overall 4 stars but honestly 3 is kind of better. The only 2 positive things about this hotel is the location and the front desk. Every person at the front desk was so nice and friendly and kind! The location for a delta center event can’t be beat. With that being said here are a few issues. The heating and cooling in the unit can’t be adjusted to just heat or just ac it is automatically both. The shower pressure was awful. And when you turn the shower on it still came out the faucet. The breakfast is ridiculously priced. The pool area was dirty, hair, and debris all over it was actually kind of gross. The lighting is terrible there was a light that straight didn’t work above the bed. Looking around the unit was not even that clean. I clean for a living so I notice stuff but there is stuff on the walls and ceiling behind the bed. The pen cap was on the ground which makes me think it wasn’t even vacuumed. My daughter went to shower and there was no conditioner so we had to call for some (again front desk amazing). When we excited the elevator to the floor it smelled SSSOOOO gross and our room did too. I had to DoorDash air freshener and sanitizing wipes because I wasn’t comfortable with the smell and cleanliness. The parking fee was $25 a night which idk what the public parking fee is but if it’s the same the hotel should offer a discount
