The Metropolitan Inn consistently receives negative reviews, citing significant cleanliness issues, uncomfortable rooms with dated amenities, and poor customer service. While the location is considered a positive, the overall experience is marred by bed bugs, unsanitary conditions, and unprofessional staff behavior.

We had a 3 night stay. Medical procedures on each of the three days. Room was adequate but customer service sucked. We had medical equipment that needed wifi. Talked to front desk multiple times still no wifi. I found the front desk clerk sleeping on the couch in the lobby more than once. We asked for a delayed check out and he told me I had till 11:30 or they would charge a late fee. He called at 11 wanting to know if we were out. I reminded him he gave me to 11:30. All interaction was not good. Unless you just need a night to sleep, DO NOT stay there!

We felt very mislead by the room and the pictures that were shown in Expedia. My husband and I were looking for a Valentines night getaway to enjoy a safe, local bar crawl. None of the pictures shown to us when we booked our stay reflected what our room actually looked like. The room itself felt unsettling with stains on the furniture and a layer of dirt on the floor. we felt very unsafe. Our air conditioning made a loud and obnoxious hum until we unplugged it. The elevator felt as if it was going to break any second, even going up or down a single floor. The faucet in the bathroom was leaking and also would not drain down the sink. When we left about 10 minutes after checking in, I gave the key card back to the employee at the check out, he did not ask us why, try to fix it, or offer us another open room. If anything, it felt like this happens oftenand he wasn't surprised. I was very disappointed with the whole experience, any kind of help to fix our stay would've been welcomed *if* it was offered.

The Metropolitan is in a great location for Downtown. Easy walk to city center and many others. Parking is easy and accessible. Rooms are dated but the mattress is great and the bathroom, while dated, is large with good water pressure. Rooms are outside access. I wouldn’t want to contain my kids in the room and not allow them to go outside. It’s a cheaper alternative than others but it’s a great price despite the downsides.

Calling the Metropolitan Inn a “hotel” is generous. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this place has given up on even the most basic standards of cleanliness, comfort, or customer service. The room was dirty in ways that suggested it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time—sticky surfaces, questionable linens, and a general smell that no amount of air freshener could hide. The furniture looked worn out and neglected, and everything felt run-down, like maintenance is an afterthought rather than a priority. Noise was constant, both from outside and within the building, making sleep nearly impossible. The walls might as well be made of paper. Safety and comfort were clearly not concerns here. Staff were indifferent at best and dismissive at worst. Any issues raised were met with shrugs rather than solutions, as if unhappy guests are simply expected to accept the conditions. Salt Lake City has plenty of affordable lodging options—there is absolutely no reason to stay here. This was easily one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, and I would strongly recommend spending your money literally anywhere else. If you stay here, assume your cash deposit is not refundable.

BED BUGS????? I stayed 2 nights from the 01/02 - 01/04. To begin the beginning of my stay was alright with the good customer service from the Hotel attendant. However upon entering the door jam lock was not secured and had screws falling out. This did not allow the door to lock properly. The walls were damaged and the bathroom fan was falling off only secured with one nail. The worst part of this whole experience was the bed bugs I woke up with the second night. I requested a refund and was denied so. They stated that they must bring pest control to determine if there was a bug infestation. When asked about pest control arrival I was greeted with “I don’t know I’m just a night shift worker”. DO NOT STAY HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SPEND A LITTLE MORE!!!?????

Our reservation was under my husband’s name, and we have stayed here before. Five months ago, Grace was very excellent, professional, and actually cared about guests, That is the only reason we returned. This time the front desk guy was rude, and completely unprofessional. He was sitting on the chair using his phone. No greeting, no help, no explanations just attitude and indifference. It felt like guests were an inconvenience to him. I’m giving 2 stars only because housekeeping did their job. Front desk service was unacceptable and ruined the stay.I will never come back because of the rude and careless staff.

The plumbing had some small issues in my room. On the site i registered on said there was free breakfast but there was no break fast. This Inn is dated but the remaining del and upgrades has made a very good stay. The room was clean but the tub was stopped up. The guy working at the front desk Nick is very nice and customer friendly. My 100 dollar deposit was returned with no issues. The parking was good and no one bothered my car. I’m good

Unbelievably bad. We had wake the employee up so we could check in. The room was filthy. Toilet didn't flush I had to go and buy a plunger just to be able to use the bathroom on our stay there. We where also charged a pet fee of $25 per pet. And another deposit of $100 that had to be cash. $150 dollars. When we finally got to sleep we where awaken by the same employee telling us we owe $50 more because the pet fee was $25 per pet per day. So we only got 6 hours of sleep and we had to pay $200 we definitely didn't expect to have to pay. On the second day at the Metropolitan we asked a friend to pet sit for us until Sunday so we could save the $50 a day pet fee. When the employee came to work that night and we didn't have the pets he told us we had to leave because we used a towel to get the water off the floor and it got so filthy they complained there was no way another guest would be able use the towel again. If the refrigerator wasn't leaking all over the place and they would try to clean anything there that would never of happened to the towel. We thought we would save some money staying there but it costs us even more. We had to get another hotel room and we didn't get reimbursed for the 3 days we never used of the original 5 days we bought. The place had drug paraphernalia in the hallways and parking lot. I'm so grateful that I didn't have my children with us. I couldn't imagine having my kids around all that mess. Not only will I never stay at the Metropolitan again or will I ever recommended anyone stay there. I won't even go down the street the Metropolitan is on.

Decent little motel/hotel. The rooms were clean with good beds and bathrooms. Good price. They only take a cash deposit so that made me a little uneasy but everything turned out fine. Id stay there again. Its a good location.

It's terrible. It smells like damp, cigarettes, and other substances mixed together. They also ask for a very high deposit for such poor service. The bathrooms are terrible! I lost my money. I couldn't stay inside for more than 20 minutes.
