Extended Stay America - Salt Lake City - Union Park receives mixed reviews, with concerns regarding cleanliness, laundry facilities, and staff interactions. While some guests praise the convenient location and helpful staff, others report issues with hygiene, equipment malfunctions, and potentially discriminatory behavior. The hotel’s outdated facilities and inconsistent service present significant challenges for potential guests.
Saw one of the employees- Gale- harassing an older black woman staying in the hotel long term. The police were called and I heard all the drama. The lady just needed a little more time moving her things to a new room because she's diabled. Just know, this extended stay does not care to ensure their guests comfort. She was so rude, and it completely ruined my experience. Truly you could not pay me to stay there.
Due to charging for replacement of towels and sheets and being forced to wash our own towels and the prices on the washing and drying and vending machines… it is very hard to spend more then what we pay to stay here. However due to staff members like tifney Paul kiona this location is a decent place to live. Staff members have been good, one staff member tends to have attitudes but overall really friendly and usually kind.
Possibly the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Walked in to the manager being rude to other employees and to guests MULTIPLE times. The guest situations I witnessed: the guests weren't even being rude to mgr, they simply asked a question. Or mgr had to bring something up with the guest and did it with a nasty attitude. I work in hospitality myself; I have bad days where I want to snap at guests. But if I spoke to people that way? Even rude ones? My mgr would probably give me a warning about conduct. Don't expect room service to be regular or do even a third of what needs doing. Some are clearly trying but overburdened/rushing because the rest are dropping the ball, so I can't fault them for just trying to get the most essential stuff done before moving on. Hotel itself is an older building: your drains WILL clog and you WILL be able to hear everyone around you. 'Water leaks' set off the fire alarm multiple times at 3-4am. The bathroom door in my room wouldn't close at all. Other guests frequently have either loud (constant barking) or aggressive dogs so I wouldn't dare bring my dog with me here. They also allow someone to keep their (dog-aggressive and off-leash) pet dog behind the front desk, and use the hallways like a private dog park. Location wise... fine. Not ideal. Difficult to get in/out, limited parking, not easy to walk to places. Would NOT walk around at night here.
This is an amazing hotel. The rooms are great sized for an extended stay. They have kitchens so you don’t have to order out all the time. There’s onsite laundry as well. Housekeeping is also amazing!!! Deona went above and beyond in our room. The front desk made you feel welcome and at home. I love it here. The location is very close to target and Walmart and a lot of other stores and malls. I’m not a skier but there are ski resorts very close too!!
Well let's see. I have had no issues, except. Sometimes tone and approaches towards some guest is really just not exceptable. This in not to get anyone in trouble. It's just witnessed. There are times when customers are turned away due to bookings with third party vendors , but because of not having a bank or a credit card account to be able to put on file. Guests are being turned away. I can understand the reasoning behind these policies, but some of these policies are inadequate. Another policy or rule is the housekeeping comma where you're only able to get housekeeping every two weeks comma or you're charged a convenience fee just to be able to get new towels or sheets. The laundry machines need to be changed.Corrected fixed upgraded comma because they take more money from guess than the performance of the machine actually does. I have literally lost twenty bucks due to equipment that has failed twice. And when you call the vendor all they do is tell you that they're not gonna give you your money back. The pricing on these laundry machines is skyrocketed high in its rip-off.Just for me to be able to continue to have good hygiene and clean clothes. And the cleanliness of these rooms needs to be addressed a little bit, when I first arrived in my hotel room, it looks clean but if you get to inspecting and looking at things closely, I'm very aware of paying attention to detail and things, my number one thing is looking underneath beds. And looking in the bathroom comma when there's trash under the bed , and it's dusty , and that's meaning nobody has bothered to look under the bed or vacuum under a bed or pull things out of the way. Then they're not adequately doing their duties correctly. And again , this is no disrespect or heard feelings towards anybody, it's just a small things that would make this establishment above and beyond what it is at this point in time. I don't think anybody realizes that I pay attention to more things than people realize even though I laugh and smile and goof off.I am very aware, and pay attention to detail in just the smallest things.I always try to clean up and pick up trash when I see it in the hallways.I try to help around outside when I see people just throw trash down and leave their drinks out. There is a lack of trash cans in certain areas where it would be common. Like by the front door by the picnic area in the back. Little things like that go a long way. And again, I have the utmost respect for all the employees here because I've been helped in many different ways. And it's really appreciated and i'M grateful for the services that I have gotten and the generosity of the staff. So I would just like to say , thank you guys for being awesome and happy holidays
Lili, Angel, Tiffany, have been top-notch with customer service, taking care of yes needs and accommodations. There attention of detailed spot on. My room was immaculate, anything that I needed since my stay here they have taken care of and the best way that they can. Even after hours. I would 100% recommend this location and the staff here or there phenomenal attitudes, humbleness, and caring this, willing to go the extra mile for customer experience. Which is much appreciated and is a rare thing you see nowadays in hotels.
Bugs, Bugs, and Fleas, oh my! Filthy and Gross. Approx $10 to do a load of laundry and both the washer doesn't clean and the dryer, still all wet. No breakfast, that would probably been disgusting with a visit from the BD of Health. Ginormous pit bulls. Front counter is not manned often, usually a sign with a phone number no one answers. This place is a good match for smokers. Surprised they don't give out lighters.
Make sure to check that the room has been cleaned since the last occupant. We got a room with used towels on the bed, bed was not made up, towels in the bathroom were all used, no clean towels. There was coffee in the lobby when we were leaving in the morning but the coffee was not filtered properly so we dumped it out of our cups. We only stayed one night, so if you are looking for a relatively cheap stay for the night, this place is fine. Will not recommend this place for a longer stay seeing as how they are so stingy with room cleaning.
Jennifer at the front desk was great, our flight was delayed and we got in at 1 am she got us our room and gave great recommendations of the area. Made our business trip That much better! Will definitely be coming back here in the near future!!!! Also there’s a kitchen in the hotel which was super cool. Never saw a stove top hotel but it was great.
The workers here are great. They all care about making sure you’re happy and are always ready to help you at the desk with a friendly smile. Gale, Jennifer, and Tiffany are all amazing. The location is a little bit tucked in but it’s a good location that isn’t too far from anything but also away enough from the busy city areas that you can find a little bit of peace. They also allow dogs and their pet policy is great! Much better policies than other extended stays in the area. If you make an account with them there are always deals too. And they will tell you about them and find you what you need. Great people! Would definitely recommend.
