The Hampton Inn Salt Lake City North has seen significant renovation efforts, with recent reviews highlighting improvements in cleanliness and room quality. However, recent stays have been significantly impacted by ongoing construction, leading to disruptions and a mismatch between the advertised appearance and the actual experience. Staff friendliness is a consistent positive, but communication regarding the construction timeline has been lacking.
The recently renovated room was nice and the king bed was excellent, but the shower doors would not stay closed during showering. The motel next door is a dump and unfortunately detracts from the Hampton Inn. The Hampton Inn staff was friendly and prompt. The breakfast was on time and delicious. at 6 am. Freeway ramps are close and access for the Salt Lake City Airport is easy. This is an updated 5-star review a month later, for a 2-day stay in October 2025. This time the shower doors were not a problem. The breakfast was great and the big screen in the dining area was quiet, which was nice. The staff was again very helpful.
Front desk guy was absolutely amazing!! Went above and beyond for us! We went on vacation to lagoon stayed here! Clean rooms and great breakfast also the breakfast lady was so nice to me and my family!! Great pool and hot tub also this place is great
Had a lovely stay here. Rooms were clean and the hotel felt fresh, especially the pool! Cleanest hotel pool I've ever seen! Not sure if the pool is a recent addition or remodel but it felt new with crystal clean water. Breakfast was good - everyone found something they enjoyed and left satisfied - mainly thanks to the waffle station. Hugo at the front desk was 5 star friendly and gracious with recommendations and historical facts of the area. We'll definitely stay here again when we're in town!
Visited after the renovation September 2025. It was a great quality room and pet friendly! The staff were friendly and informative. They told me to check out Antelope Island and it was indeed the best tourist attraction. Also, breakfast is included!
This was a surprisingly nice stay! Feels recently renovated (if not new). My room was immaculate, fresh, contemporary, and well-lit. The AC on the summer worked great... And quiet. Great water pressure in the shower!!!!
Stayed in room 223. We arrived late at night. The room key machine was not working so the front desk had to let us in. We did receive a room key the next day though. Curb appeal isnt bad once the sun came up the next day. The room was clean upon entering and did t have a bad smell but not the most welcoming smell. Maybe hit the room with a descent air freshener after cleaning? The beds are comfy and the pillows aren’t bad. The bathroom had random hairs around the floor. The shower works good but the shower floor is EXTREMELY SLICK when showering. Something definitely needs to be done to remedy that since a broken hip wouldn’t look good on these guys. The breakfast was bland, didn’t try the coffee. The staff was friendly so that’s a plus. Not the best Hampton I’ve ever stayed at hence the 3 stars but it’s better than what’s located close by…..
Completely renovated for 2025. They have just about finished reconstruction, with just the front entry and parking areas to complete. After having completely gutted the i side and starting from scratch, the Inside is done. The rooms are fresh and clean. Beds are comfortable (I am super picky about beds). Two person showers are sweet, but the water pressure could be a bit higher. Breakfast was tasty and hot. Staff is very friendly. AJ at the desk and Roberta in the dining area are great! Our AC unit in room 212 was super loud, Making it difficult to sleep. Earplugs helped. They should have it adjusted by their technicians by now. Easy off and on the freeway. Great place to stay.
It’s under construction and shouldn’t be allowed to be having guests yet because of off gassing of new construction materials etc. They should be closed and open up one week after construction is done. It’s also a safety hazard with construction debris materials parking lot hole etc. It’s a major construction zone scaffolding and all. Room is fine just hoping no one’s peeking in my window in the AM! *After speaking with the manager and Hilton directly I hope they keep pictures up to date to reflect the current state of the hotel. As well as word that the hotel is under construction where it’s visible (perhaps before the hotel name.) Not a banner that’s barely visible. I was surprised upon arrival and felt tricked. This is an issue with Hilton as well as their umbrella of hotels they should be more transparent and honest so your not in shock when you pull into a construction zone.
I booked this hotel for a work trip in 04/2025 and showed up to a full construction zone. No notice was given that the hotel does construction 9am - 7pm (!) right now. Half the parking lot is closed, including the main entrance, they had a jackhammer & a CAT tractor pulling up the pavement as I came in. Breakfast is in the “meeting room” because the lobby is a stack of half-placed tiles and subflooring. The pool says it’s open but they’re actively tiling the floor to the pool area as I type this and I’m sure they don’t want you walking on the wet tile. My company paid about $700 for the week stay and honestly I’ve already asked to be moved despite the financial loss (the room is non refundable). What kind of hotel doesn’t let customers know it’s under construction? Especially if you’re doing building work until 7pm on every side of the building/the roof?? The front desk was nice when I checked in but I’m sure I’m not the only unhappy customer they’ve seen today. However, the nice staff does not make up for the lack of communication on the construction, so do yourself a favor and skip this hotel.
Update: I am improving my rating based entirely on the service due to their quick response and understanding of my issues, particularly that of Adam Timothy, the Front Office Manager. Hilton stepped up to offer a full refund of this recent stay and apologized about the issues. (Unfortunately, Hilton says that they reached out to the company I booked through, meaning Expedia, and are not being allowed to process a refund.) They also explained that the photos are waiting to be updated after their renovation; which I understand to some degree, though I would say it could also be communicated that the images do not correctly reflect the current rooms. -- I recently stayed at the Hampton Inn Salt Lake City-North and was extremely disappointed with the experience. While I was informed in advance about renovations, the communication severely downplayed the extent of the disruption. The entire first floor was gutted, resembling a construction zone more than a functioning hotel—with exposed drywall, concrete floors, and a temporary front desk. I was not made aware that essential amenities, including the gym, would be completely unavailable or that I’d be walking through dusty construction daily, which exacerbated my asthma. Additionally, the room I booked looked nothing like the photos provided online, which contributed to a strong sense of being misled. I would not have booked this stay had I been properly informed of the conditions. Overall, this experience left me feeling deceived and dissatisfied to the point that I’m reconsidering future stays with any Hilton properties for fear of being so utterly misled again.
