Sonesta Simply Suites Salt Lake City Airport receives mixed reviews, with some praising its convenient location near the airport and well-equipped rooms. However, recurring concerns involve inconsistent service, issues with parking fees and deposits, slow Wi-Fi, and safety concerns reported by recent guests. Several reviews highlight unsettling incidents and a lack of responsiveness from hotel management when addressing guest safety and complaints.

If I could leave negative stars, I would. Do NOT stay at this hotel under any circumstances. This was one of the most unsafe and disturbing experiences I have ever had while traveling. I checked in alone for a business trip and was in the middle of a virtual work meeting in my room when someone started aggressively pounding on my door. Thinking it may have been hotel staff or maintenance, I answered it. Instead, I was met by a man dressed completely in black repeatedly demanding, “Where is she?” He appeared confused, agitated, and kept asking if he had the correct room number. As a woman traveling alone, this was absolutely terrifying. After several uncomfortable exchanges, he finally claimed he had the wrong room and left. Still shaken, I left for a client meeting and returned later that evening. Because I no longer felt safe, I attempted to move furniture in front of the door before going to sleep. While moving the furniture, I discovered sex pills and what appeared to be a bag of drugs hidden in the room. At that point, I immediately went downstairs to the front desk and informed them I no longer felt safe staying there and needed to leave immediately. The response from management was beyond unacceptable. I was told I “couldn’t check out” because checkout was in the morning, and because I did not report the man at my door immediately after it happened, there was “nothing they could do.” No concern for guest safety. No apology. No urgency. Nothing. Unless you want random men aggressively banging on your door, to find drugs and sex pills hidden in your room, and receive absolutely no help or support from hotel staff when you feel unsafe, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. No amount of money saved is worth risking your safety.

Excellent location, very close to the airport. The room was spacious and quiet, the only thing is that the closet did not have hangers (but very spacious closet) and a luggage stand. The staff was very courteous and fast.

It’s reasonable price it doesn’t come with its flaws. No room service for a week. They charge for parking which they don’t say that in the reservation… and once you are charged that security deposit they will not refund that back… just consider these point before booking. Also the homeless folks roaming around the parking

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at this location. After being on the highway for twelve hours, I just wanted a hot shower and sleep. I was disgusted to discover hair all over the bathroom, including pubs inside the tub. The dishwasher was full of funky dirty dishes. I was absolutely exhausted and going to the front desk would have ended badly. So, I showered with my flip flops on as i gaged the entire time. The bed was the only clean thing about the room. Thankfully it was only for the night. I did let the front desk know at checkout but she didn't care and that's okay. I won't be staying there again.

Our experience at Sonesta Suites in Salt Lake City has been absolutely unacceptable and deeply disturbing, entirely due to the behavior of the on-site manager. From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were being targeted. During our first week, the manager refused to let us extend our stay because the physical card used for the original booking had been stolen—even though the week was already paid for and we had other payment methods. He also initially refused to let a family member rent the room for us until we complained, at which point he suddenly reversed his decision. We are paying $650+ per week, yet were treated with suspicion and hostility rather than respect. Early in our stay, the manager knocked on our door in the morning demanding a “random room inspection.” We complied but asked him to return once we were dressed. He never came back. We waited so long that we missed an important doctor’s appointment. We later scheduled another inspection for the following day—once again, he never showed. This alone felt invasive and targeted. Things escalated further when I took my service animal outside to use the restroom. While my dog was urinating, the manager slowly drove past us in his car watching our every move. Minutes later, he called our room falsely accusing my dog of defecating on the lawn and threatened a $250 charge. When I told him to check the cameras, he backed off—but then threatened eviction if any feces were found on the property in the future, despite many other dogs staying there. The worst incident happened during our third week. Without warning, the manager denied us the ability to extend our stay. When we asked why, his exact response was: “I don’t have a reason, I’m just refusing your stay.” He then told us we had one hour to leave or he would call the police. One hour to pack up everything we owned. Both my fiancé and I are disabled. I have Multiple Sclerosis, which causes chronic pain and mobility issues. My fiancé has a severe back injury from an automobile accident and recently had a toe amputated. Expecting us to pack and move in one hour was not just unreasonable—it was cruel. To make matters worse, the manager stood outside our room watching us struggle to move our belongings. He clearly saw my fiancé in pain. At one point he stated, “I used to help guests move, but I don’t anymore because I’m too busy.” Apparently not too busy to stand there and watch. As if that wasn’t enough, after forcing us out, the manager trespassed us from the property, banning us from ever returning—for absolutely no legitimate reason. We were literally kicked out and trespassed from a hotel we were paying premium weekly rates to stay in. This was intimidation. This was discrimination. And this was abuse of authority. I have personally witnessed this manager target other guests as well, harassing them until they leave. His behavior is unprofessional, hostile, and completely inconsistent with what anyone should experience at a Sonesta property. We are not letting this go. His actions will be addressed through proper channels. Until Sonesta removes or corrects the management at this location, I strongly advise others—especially disabled guests—to stay elsewhere.

Honestly like this hotel i didn’t do an extended stay stayed for a day in SLC and it’s very convenient…super close to the airport about a 5-8$ ride ! A the metro system goes to the airport as well and stops one block away from the hotel!! Plus the metro takes you right into downtown SLC about 6 stops or so and right to the arena as well! You can’t beat it honestly…. Great coffee breakfast spot right next door as well…i enjoyed it and the staff was very friendly and it’s safe besides the few hobos around the corner but no biggie honestly

The deposit policy is not listed or explained anywhere on the hotel's website. They require a $100 deposit for incidentals. All their website says is that they "may" require a credit/debit card or cash deposit, no mention of the amount, and I don't know why it mentions cash could be an option, because it most definitely is not. They only accept payment from a card in hand and will tell you that they don't accept or allow cash. If you go looking for the deposit policy in the help section of their website, all it says is that the deposit policy information can be found on your confirmation email. However, this is not true if you pay for your room on a third party site, which I did, so I'm literally unable to view the deposit policy at all. This should not be okay, the hotel should list their deposit policy clearly on their website. As if that wasn't bad enough, we ended up deciding to stay another night and paid for the room before checkout, but when we went to inform the front desk of this they said we had to pay another $100 deposit...I have no idea if this is their actual policy, as it's not listed anywhere on their website or on my confirmation email, but I've never run into this being the case for any other hotel I've ever stayed at before. Everywhere else I've ever stayed does not require an additional deposit if you pay for additional nights after paying the initial deposit as long as you pay before checkout. So this was a very frustrating experience. Additionally, they have do it yourself laundry here, but I promise you do not want to use it. Its over priced, and it uses an app to pay/operate the washers and dryers. The washers and dryers lock immediately after the cycle finishes, causing you to have to pay for another cycle/use to unlock it just to get your clothes out. We did quite a bit of laundry last time we stayed here, and ended up having to pay an additional $20 total just to open locked machines after their cycles finished just to be able to get our clothes out. The front desk will tell you they can't do anything, you have to contact the app for help with this. All the people from the app did was give us a couple credits towards their app, refusing to give us a refund for this incredible inconvenience. Honestly, other than these two significant issues, the upsides of this hotel are that you can get a good deal on their rooms through third party websites, their rooms are pretty nice, the beds are very comfortable, and they have a full kitchenette with dishes included.

The proximity to the airport is a plus, but overall this Sonesta fell short of expectations. I was placed here by my company, and while housekeeping is listed as once a week, no real cleaning was done. The staff also did not seem particularly helpful, which made it uncomfortable to ask for assistance. I’m not sure if this is standard for the brand or specific to this location, but overall, I would not recommend. I did not feel welcomed here, which made for a terrible stay.

The rooms were clean and spacious. It really caught me off guard when I walked in my room and there was a full size fridge, a microwave, a dish washer, a sink, and a two burner stove. Also yes they still have a tv in here right above the L shape desk. It was like being at home. For me I have to go with 5 stars based off the room alone. The lady who checked me in was kind and helped me making an adjustment after I checked in. She was attentive and awesome. Thank you for the customer service and awesome room

The room was nice and big. It has a mini kitchen with stove and fridge. Our room was clean. For me this covers most of what I need from an inexpensive hotel. Their location is very convenient. It’s less than a quarter mile away from the green line which give you access to downtown and other areas by public transportation if you don’t want to rent a car. They offer shuttle bus service from 7am - 11pm. Unfortunately for us our JetBlue flight from JFK got us here at 11 and by the time we’re out of the airport it’s already 1130, which means no train service and no shuttle bus. We did get a chance to use their shuttle service after check out. This hotel was very comfy, offers a lot of service and value. I would go here again and recommend to others as well when you’re in Salt Lake City and need to be close to the airport
